Bluewater of Canada grab five medals at Orfordville meet

By Judith Addleson, June 20 BLUEWATER, A CANADIAN club side, finished in a medal position in all five categories contested at the Orfordville Invitational in Wisconsin, US.

Although the Ontario club did not take any golds back across the border, it managed two silver and three bronze medals on Saturday.

Bluewater was not the only overseas team to make an impression in Wisconsin. The English representatives, Hedge End, also bagged a gold in the men’s 640kg.

Still, local sides took three out of the four other gold medals.

Oregon were the victors in the women’s 545kg category, beating Minnesota side DJ’s into second place, with Bluewater taking the bronze.

IN THE WOMEN’S 520kg, another Wisconsin team, GLD from Madison, outpulled Oregon, who finished second, with Bluewater showing some consistency by finishing third again.

In the lightest men’s category, the 600kg, DJ’s picked up the gold after beating Bluewater in the final, with Hedge End finishing third.

Finishing behind Hedge End in the men’s 640kg were US side Powertrain, based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Bluewater took the bronze.

In the final event, Wisconsin side Mount Vernon took first after overcoming Bluewater in the final, with DJ’s beating Powertrain in the third/fourth place play-off.
